1990s

In 1996, J. Choo Limited is co-founded by Professor Jimmy Y.K. Choo, OBE (who subsequently left the business in 2001) and Tamara Yeardye (now Mellon), formerly Vogue’s accessories editor (who left the business in 2011).

Sandra Choi, Jimmy’s niece by marriage, joins the business as one of the founding directors, overseeing the design of the collections.

Jimmy Choo opens its first boutique on London's Motcomb Street.

In 1998, the brand begins its global expansion with the opening of boutiques on Madison Avenue, New York City, and Rodeo Drive, Los Angeles.

2000s
